WooCommerce Back in Stock Notifier shows a clean email form on out-of-stock product pages. When the product (or the exact variation) is available again, the plugin emails everyone on the waitlist automatically and clears their entries, so you win back sales you would have lost.
It is lightweight, secure and privacy-aware: its own database table, strict sanitisation, nonces and rate limiting, and no external services.
Capture the sale you would have lost
A clean, theme-friendly email form on out-of-stock simple, grouped and variable products
Per-variation waitlists: customers wait for the exact size or colour they want
Optional consent checkbox for GDPR, with editable wording
Honeypot, minimum-time check, nonces and rate limiting keep bots out
Automatic back-in-stock alerts
Hooks into WooCommerce's stock-status events, so it works for product edits, quantity changes, imports and cancelled orders
Sends a standard wp_mail message to everyone waiting, then clears their entries
Editable subject and message with placeholders such as product name, link, price and unsubscribe URL
One-click unsubscribe link and List-Unsubscribe header in every email
Large waitlists are sent in batches of 40 through WP-Cron, so nothing times out
See demand and manage waitlists
Waitlist screen showing how many customers wait for each product or variation
Notify now, Clear and Export CSV actions
A Waitlist column in the Products list to spot high-demand items
Privacy and security by design
Data is stored in a custom table created with dbDelta; every query is prepared
Plugs into WordPress personal data export and erase tools and adds suggested privacy-policy text
Duplicate and invalid sign-ups get the same answer, so email addresses cannot be probed
Built for developers and store owners
Translation-ready with a .pot file, RTL-friendly styles, compatible with HPOS and the Checkout block. Filters for the email subject, message and headers are included.

Frequently asked questions
When are the back-in-stock emails sent?+
Right after the request that restocked the item finishes. Product edits, quantity changes, imports and cancelled orders all trigger the alert. Lists larger than 40 people continue in batches every minute through WP-Cron.
Does it work with variable products?+
Yes. When a customer selects an out-of-stock variation, the form appears inside the variation message so they wait for exactly that size or colour. If every variation is out of stock the form is shown for the whole product.
Where are customer emails stored?+
In a dedicated table in your own WordPress database. Nothing is sent to external services, and entries are deleted as soon as the alert is sent.
Is the plugin GDPR friendly?+
Yes. It offers an optional consent checkbox, one-click unsubscribe, and plugs into the WordPress personal data export and erase tools.
Why are my alert emails not arriving?+
WordPress sends mail with wp_mail. Install an SMTP plugin such as WP Mail SMTP, check spam folders, and make sure the From address matches your domain.
Can I edit the form and email texts?+
Yes. All texts, including the consent wording and the email subject and message, are editable with placeholders under WooCommerce, Waitlist, Settings.
Does it protect against spam sign-ups?+
Yes. It uses nonces, a honeypot field, a minimum-time check and a limit of 8 attempts per hour per IP address.
What does support include?+
Installation help and bug fixes for 6 months, plus lifetime updates. Custom development and third-party plugin issues are not covered.
