Post-Dated Cheque Management (PDC) for Odoo 19 documentation

A guide to post-dated cheques: registering cheques received and issued, the steps to deposit and clearing, bounced cheques, the accounting entries, due dates and the analysis.

Documents version 1.0.0Updated Oct 23, 2026

Start here

In plain words: In many countries customers pay with post-dated cheques: a cheque you keep until the date written on it. Odoo has no place for them, so they end up in a spreadsheet. This module gives them one: you register each cheque, follow it from your drawer to the bank, and Odoo makes the right accounting entries at every step. Cheques you issue to vendors work the same way.
The list of cheques with their states, a cheque that is due, and the entries Odoo makes.

Tip: Registering a cheque pays the invoices at once, against a “post-dated cheques” account. The money reaches the bank account only when the cheque is cleared.

What you get

FeatureWhat it does

AnalysisCheques by month and state, in a pivot and a graph.

Troubleshooting

ProblemWhat to do
“Choose the bank the cheque is deposited to”Fill Our bank account on the cheque before depositing or clearing.
The invoice I want is not in the listIt must be posted, unpaid, of the same partner and in the company currency.
“The cheque is already registered”The same number exists for this partner and kind. Cancel the old one if it was wrong.
I cannot delete a chequeOnly drafts can be deleted. Cancel the others.
A cleared cheque cannot be cancelledCleared cheques are final. Correct them with a normal accounting entry.

Updating and removing

Replace the folder with the new version, restart Odoo and run -u taqnix_pdc_cheques. Cheques and settings are kept. Before removing the module, note that the cheques are deleted with it; the accounting entries stay in the books.
