In plain words: "How many do we order, and when?" Most small companies answer with a spreadsheet, a feeling, or a stock-out. Reorder Suggestions answers with your own numbers: what you sold in the last weeks, what is on hand and on order, and how long your vendor takes to deliver. For each product it gives the days of stock left, an urgency (critical, soon, fine) and the quantity to order; you adjust, tick, and create the requests for quotation by vendor in one click.
Tip: No minimum/maximum rules are needed on the products: the module uses the vendor lead time of each product and your own sales history.
What you get
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sales speed | The quantity delivered to customers from the warehouse over the last N days (90 by default), per day. |
| Days of stock left | Stock on hand divided by the daily sales. |
| Quantity to order | What you will sell during the vendor's lead time, the days of stock you want and the safety days, minus the stock on hand and on order, plus the quantities committed to customers; rounded up and raised to the vendor's minimum quantity. |
| Urgency | Critical: it runs out before the vendor can deliver. Soon: it runs out within the safety days after that. Fine: the rest. |
| The vendor | The first vendor of the product with its price, lead time and minimum quantity; you can change the vendor on a line. |
| Your control | Change any quantity, untick a line, filter by product category or warehouse, compute again. |
| RFQs | One draft request for quotation per vendor, with the ticked lines, linked to the run. |
| History | Every run is kept with what was suggested and which RFQs came out of it. |
| Arabic | Everything is translated and works right to left. |

Prepare the products
In plain words: The module reads the Purchase tab of each product: add the vendors with their delay (lead time in days), their minimum quantity and their price. Products must be storable and purchasable. A product without a vendor is skipped, unless you untick Only products with a vendor.
Make a run
In plain words: Inventory → Operations → Reorder suggestions → New (or Purchase → Orders). Choose the warehouse, how many days of sales to look at, the days of stock wanted after the delivery and the safety days; optionally the product categories. Press Compute the suggestions.
Read the suggestions
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Urgency | Critical (red), soon (orange) or fine (green). |
| On hand / On order | Stock in the warehouse now, and quantities ordered from vendors that are not received yet. |
| Sold | Delivered to customers during the period. |
| Days of stock left | On hand divided by the daily sales. |
| Lead time | Days your vendor needs to deliver. |
| Suggested / To order | What the calculation proposes, and what you will order: type another number if you know better. |
In plain words: Untick the lines you do not want to order now. The total of the ticked lines is shown at the top.
Create the requests for quotation
In plain words: Press Create the requests for quotation: one draft RFQ per vendor, with the ticked lines at the quantities you chose, the vendor's price and the warehouse's receipts as destination. The run becomes Ordered, and keeps the link to its RFQs.
Who can do what
| Who | Can |
|---|---|
| Purchase users | Make runs, change the lines and create the RFQs. |
| Others | No access. |
Arabic and right to left
Limits
| Limit | Detail |
|---|---|
| Sales history only | The suggestion follows what you sold: it does not know a coming promotion or a seasonal peak. Change the quantity or the days of cover. |
| Deliveries to customers | Only moves from the warehouse to customer locations count as sales. |
| Vendor lead time | The delay of the product's first vendor is used. |
| Draft RFQs | Draft RFQs are not counted as stock on order until they are confirmed: do not run twice before confirming. |
| Manufactured products | Components of manufacturing orders are not looked at. |
For developers
In plain words: Skip this chapter if you only use the module.
run = env['taqnix.reorder.run'].create({'warehouse_id': warehouse.id, 'history_days': 90, 'cover_days': 30, 'safety_days': 7})
run.action_compute() # one line per product that needs a purchase
for line in run.line_ids:
print(line.product_id.name, line.days_left, line.urgency, line.suggested_qty)
run.line_ids[0].order_qty = 50 # change what you want
run.action_create_rfqs() # one draft RFQ per vendorTroubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| A product is missing | It has no vendor (or is not storable or purchasable), it has no sales in the period, or its stock is enough. |
| Everything is Fine | Your vendors' lead times are short compared with your stock: change the safety days. |
| Choose a vendor for every line you order | A line has no vendor: pick one or untick it. |
| The quantities look too big | Reduce the days of stock wanted, or the vendor's minimum quantity. |
Updating and removing
Replace the folder with the new version, restart Odoo and run -u taqnix_reorder_suggestions. The runs are kept.
