To migrate WooCommerce to Shopify without losing sales or search traffic, treat it as a project: audit what you have, move the data that can move, rebuild what cannot, map every old URL to a new one with a 301 redirect, test on a store customers cannot see, and point your domain at Shopify last. This guide is general information as of October 2026.
Per Shopify, products and customers move by CSV or app and orders need third-party apps, while reviews and passwords cannot be migrated directly.
URLs change: /product/ becomes /products/. Redirect each with a 301 and keep the redirects at least a year, as Google advises.
Test in private mode, rehearse the DNS switch, keep a rollback plan and watch Search Console afterwards.
Should you migrate at all?
Good reasons include wanting hosting, updates and checkout run for you. A redesign WooCommerce could do is a weak one. A move costs a theme rebuild, new apps, a redirect project and a risk to search traffic. Google's site move guide advises changing one thing at a time, in a quiet period, so skip the new domain and rebrand.
Check your payment provider first. As of October 2026 Shopify Payments is listed for the UAE but not Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain or Oman, so those stores need a third-party provider that supports Shopify: see Shopify payments in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf.
A safe migration runs in order: audit, import, rebuild, test, switch the domain, then monitor, and each stage depends on the one before it.
What do you have, and what replaces it?
Record a baseline first: traffic, top pages, orders and Search Console clicks.

How do you migrate WooCommerce to Shopify: CSV, apps or a Partner?
Shopify's migration overview ranks the methods by difficulty: copy and paste, CSV, a migration app, a Shopify Partner or its API. Its WooCommerce guide is the checklist.
Products. Export from Products, All Products, Export (documentation), reshape the file to Shopify's template using its column mapping, and import under Products. Shopify's Store Migration app can also import a WooCommerce CSV, though its guide called it early access. Files cannot exceed 15 MB and an import cannot be cancelled, so try a few first. External image URLs must be publicly accessible, so keep the old site online until it ends.
Customers. Shopify's guide names a WooCommerce plugin for export, and WooCommerce Analytics can download a Customers report as CSV. Edit it to Shopify's template and import only people who opted in to marketing.
Orders. Shopify's guide names apps such as LitExtension, Matrixify and Ablestar WooCommerce Importer. We have not tested them: ask for a sample migration, and keep your own order and invoice archive.
How do you plan URLs and 301 redirects?
Shopify's address structure is fixed, so most URLs change. Yours depend on your WooCommerce permalink settings.

Shopify lists these standard paths: confirm them on your test store. Then:
Collect every old URL from your sitemap, Search Console, analytics, a crawl and plugin redirects, and rank them by traffic, links and sales.
Choose each new URL. Shopify's product CSV has a URL handle column and SEO title and description columns: reuse the old slug and text.
Map to the closest equivalent. Google says not to send many old pages to an unrelated page such as the home page, and to avoid chains.
Use 301s. Google's redirect guide prefers server-side permanent redirects.
Import them. As of October 2026 Shopify's URL redirects page puts the tool under Content, Menus, View URL Redirects, with CSV import. It redirects only addresses that no longer load a page.
Update internal links. Google's Change of Address tool is only for domain or subdomain moves, so skip it.
How do you rebuild the store?
Theme and design
A WooCommerce theme does not move: choose a Shopify theme and rebuild the design. Shopify says paid themes must be bought before publishing and are non-refundable, so trial first. Keep structure and menus close to the old store, and test right-to-left layouts if you sell in Arabic: see how to choose a Shopify theme and building an Arabic Shopify store.
Payments, shipping, email and accounts
Payments. Set up and test your provider: see payment gateways in Saudi Arabia. Shopify charges a transaction fee on outside providers.
Emails. Edit and test order and shipping notifications. Rebuild abandoned checkout emails: Shopify's help page describes them in its Messaging app.
Accounts. Shopify says customers sign in with an emailed one-time code by default. Warn them, test an imported customer's sign-in and redirect the old My account page to /account.
How do you test and switch the domain?
Test on a store customers cannot see
Shopify says private mode hides your pages from visitors and search engines, and new stores start in it. You can test a payment gateway only on a paid plan (test orders), so choose a plan early. Test:
Best sellers, collections, search and menus, on phones and in Arabic.
Cart, checkout, shipping rates and taxes for each country.
Order success, failure, refund and cancellation, with each email.
An imported customer signing in.
Analytics, ad tags and Search Console verification, which Google says to keep on the new site.
DNS and domain cutover plan
Use the exact records on Shopify's domain guide, not values from memory.
A week or more ahead, lower the DNS TTL to a few hours, as Google advises, and export your DNS records.
On the day, show a holding message on WooCommerce, then export orders and customers created since your first import.
Disconnect the domain from the old platform first: Shopify says SSL errors can occur otherwise. At your domain provider set the A record, AAAA record and www CNAME Shopify gives, delete other A and AAAA records and leave your email (MX) records alone.
Under Settings, Domains, choose Connect existing domain. Shopify says this usually finishes within two hours but can take two days. Check the TLS certificate.
Make the store public, remove any temporary robots.txt or noindex blocks, then check the home page, checkout, top old URLs and the sitemap.
How do you monitor SEO and roll back?
Monitor with Search Console
Keep the same Search Console property and check it is still verified. Submit Shopify's sitemap.xml and remove the old one, as Google's guide suggests. In the first days, then weekly, check the URL Inspection tool on top old URLs, the sitemaps and page indexing reports for rising not found errors, and the Performance report against your baseline. Every 404 that had traffic or links needs a redirect. Google says rankings can fluctuate and small or medium sites can take a few weeks for most pages to move; nobody can promise results.
Rollback plan
Set triggers in advance, such as checkout failing, wrong taxes or invoices, or redirects broken beyond a quick fix. Keep WooCommerce and its hosting untouched, a fresh backup, your old DNS records and a low TTL. To roll back, point the records back, reopen WooCommerce checkout, make Shopify private and merge orders taken there. Google says you can retire old hosting once its traffic reaches zero. Until then keep it patched: see the WordPress security checklist.

Frequently asked questions
Will I lose my Google rankings?
Nobody can promise either way. You lower the risk by mapping every old URL to its closest new one with a 301 and watching Search Console.
Can I move orders, reviews and passwords?
Orders, yes, through third-party apps. Reviews cannot be exported or migrated directly, per Shopify, which names review apps such as Judge.me for manual import. Passwords cannot be imported: customers use an emailed code or you invite them to set new ones.
Can I keep my domain and my WordPress blog?
Keep the domain and connect it to Shopify. Its records point the whole root domain to Shopify, so the blog moves into Shopify or onto a subdomain.
Should I use an app or a Shopify Partner?
CSV often suffices for a small catalogue, and apps help with orders. A Partner suits large stores, subscriptions or custom plugin logic.
Use this Shopify launch checklist to run 30 checks before you remove the storefront password: settings, products, policies, taxes, shipping, a test order, domain, email, SEO, a backup and the first week.
There is no honest ranking of the best Shopify apps. Choose by job, check the Built for Shopify badge, reviews, permissions, speed and uninstall behaviour, keep the stack lean, and use a starter stack by store stage.
